Jasmine Newton is #MadeForKnoxville.

Sometimes what feels like an end is really a beautiful beginning. Jasmine experienced plot twists and surprises to get where she is today as the owner and photographer of Javon Renee Portraits. Throughout her journey, she learned to trust the process and truly value who she is to uncover her gifts and share them with the world.

When Jasmine was fired from her 9-5, she was faced with a decision. Was she going to look for yet another customer service job and get back into something she wasn’t loving… or was she going to take a leap and try to do something different? She chose to take a chance on herself. At the time she had no knowledge about business or photography, or even how to use a camera. Instead of letting this stop her, she started her business in June of 2015, and has been working hard to bring beauty and confidence into the lives of anyone who gets in front of her camera.

Jasmine specializes in personal portraits, personal branding, and boudoir photography. She builds on her own journey of self-discovery to help others see their own worth and beauty and embrace what they see with confidence.

Resisting the journey only slows you down. Get out of your own way and get comfortable with fear.

In Their Own Words…

I didn’t think much of myself in my younger years. I wasn’t sure I had much to offer the world and really wasn’t sure of what I wanted to do with my life. I was working in customer service and I could never seem to get promoted, even though I was always given higher tasks to do. I ultimately ended up getting fired and had to make a decision.  Would I take a chance on myself and possibly build a business that gave me more flexibility with my family, allowed me to make my own rules and discover my true value?

Building my business has not only helped me build confidence within myself over the years, it has also helped me in my own personal growth as a woman, wife and mother. There are so many lessons I have learned just from interacting with clients, connecting with other professionals, and learning more about how far I can push myself creatively. My understanding of who I am, what I am passionate about and what my legacy will be becomes clearer everyday because of this.

Photography is about more than just photos to me. It’s about really seeing yourself for the first time or for the first time in a long time. It’s about documenting your life journey for you to look back on or for your descendants to see. It is one of the most important elements to telling your personal or business story.
