Alicia Turner is #MadeForKnoxville.

Her passion lies in bringing good people together. After years of identifying countless perfect matches for her employers, she realized she could do it on her own.

Employee recruitment has been in Alicia’s wheelhouse since 2010. Even before she became the boss of her own company, she was connecting businesses with the key to their success: the right people. As the founder of Turner Recruiting & Consulting, Alicia focuses on helping small businesses. Not only does she identify great potential hires for companies, she makes a concerted effort to provide individuals with a complete job description and valuable intel about a company’s culture. With a focus on relationship building and clear communication, Alicia is able to match a job candidate’s career goals to a company’s needs.

“My excitement for the next chapter was bigger than the fear, so I knew it was the right timing.”

In Their Own Words…

I’ve been in recruiting since 2010, but it wasn’t until March 2022 that I decided to start my own business. I wanted to help other businesses, especially small businesses, with their hiring needs- so I created Turner Recruiting & Consulting! We are a direct placement company that provides a much more affordable, but personable, option for businesses! I felt the small business owners needed someone that was more cost effective since they were the ones impacted the most since covid. We do it all for you from job ad placement to background checks and drug screens. Me and my team of other like-minded and passionate women care very much about helping our clients find the right person. So our motto is- Helping good people FIND good people!

What led to entrepreneurship:

I did not grow up in an entrepreneurial house, although I still learned my work ethic and values from my dad, who was a lifelong plumber, and my mom who spent most of my childhood raising me (I’m sure that wasn’t easy), to then helping disabled or mentally challenged adults. I had my lightbulb moment when I sat there realizing that I had spent five years working for another company serving as their In-house recruiter, HR representative, and Executive Assistant to phasing myself out of a job because I had completely staffed all of their needs. I had continued to recruit independently for other companies through the years and recruiting excited me! I wanted to continue to help other companies in a way I KNEW they truly needed it. My excitement for the next chapter was bigger than the fear, so I knew it was the right timing to begin this new journey.

Lessons Learned:

The biggest lesson I learned was to anticipate growth! I did not for one second ever anticipate growth until I was sitting there last summer barely keeping my head above water. I now have two amazing Recruiting Assistants- Justiz and Brittney! My lesson- learn when to say I need help.
